The injury latest for the Pacers, with notes on harpships and timelines:
- Podcast Locked On Pacers · 12 points ·
- For the first time this season the Pacers started the expected five: Haliburton, Andrew Nembhard, Aaron Nesmith, Siakam and Zubac. The lineup didn't last long. at 13:33
- With about five minutes left in the first quarter, Zubac's left foot came down on Oubre's foot while both chased a rebound. The host called it a sprained ankle. Zubac stayed in for a couple of possessions, went to the locker room at the next stoppage and did not return. at 13:39
- Rick Carlisle (quoted): Carlisle after the game: X-rays were negative for a fracture, Zubac has some swelling, and he is 'pretty unlikely' to play tomorrow night, 'but we'll see'. Carlisle hopes it will be day-to-day. at 14:27
- Rick Carlisle (quoted): Carlisle said Zubac had a similar injury last year and missed some time, and the Pacers held him out a significant stretch after trading for him to be sure he was fully healthy. Carlisle said he wasn't sure if it was the same ankle. at 14:39
- The host says it is the same ankle Zubac injured last season. No source is given. at 14:51
- Michael Scott (reported): Michael Scott of Hoopsite posted that Zubac left the arena on crutches. at 14:53
- The host strongly doubts Zubac plays in Milwaukee and says his timeline is impossible to guess. at 15:04
- This was Zubac's eighth game with the Pacers. The host says the team is still working him in and needs him up to speed before the schedule gets harder. at 15:42
- Host's view: Zubac's durability is now a question. He played 68 or more games every season from 2018-19 until last year, and has now had two potentially lengthy ankle injuries in 10 months. at 17:31
- Before the injury, Zubac scored on his first touch and had two assists from the top of the paint. His other shot came off a bad lob from Siakam. at 17:59
- Injury list per the host: Ben Sheppard has a meniscus tear, McConnell has a hamstring strain, Zubac has the ankle injury, and Furphy has a torn ACL. at 16:32
- Host's opinion: Huff has locked down the backup center spot and should keep it even after Zubac returns. at 19:36

Pacers respond to their awful game against Dallas and crush the Nets 136-109. Their shot making was terrific. Jay Huff stepped up after Ivica Zubac's injury. Pascal Siakam broke through a clunky game. Pacers 2-1 and in Milwaukee tomorrow night.
- Bluesky Scott Agness (@scottagness.bsky.social) · Report ·
Pacers made 21 3s (3x as many as last game) in a 136-109 win at Brooklyn. Ivica Zubac suffered a left ankle sprain 7mins in and did not return to the bench. Haliburton had 24/10a, Siakam with 21-7-6, and Huff added 14pts. Just 3 TOs in second half. Next: Mon. at MIL, first b2b

Ivica Zubac ruled out for the rest of the game.

No Ivica Zubac (left ankle sprain) on the court at halftime. Huff will start the second half. Now, let's see if the Pacers can start strong and get back to playing their brand of basketball.
- Podcast Numbers on the Board host · Report · around the league
Pacers: Obi Toppin, who was barely in the rotation last year, kept them in game one. Zubac's screening is creating straight-line drives.

- Tony East: Ivica Zubac, the host says the Pacers are focusing more on shutting off the rim than in past seasons. He speculates that they changed some of their base scheme. name not confirmed at 4:53
- Tony East: The host says the starting lineup hasn't been good enough. at 12:58
- Tony East: Ivica Zubac had 9 points on 4-of-7 and 11 rebounds. The host says his turnovers were ugly, he got soft turning in the lane, and his hook shots aren't falling. at 13:49
- Tony East: Host prediction: the team will trend in the right direction, with Nesmith's return helping. They need more from Jr and Zubac and must start games better. Record is 1-1. name not confirmed at 19:09

- X Dustin Dopirak (@DustinDopirak) · Report ·
Per the NBA starters page, Jarace Walker will start at small forward tonight even with Aaron Nesmith back. Other four: Tyrese Haliburton, Andrew Nembhard, Pascal Siakam Ivica Zubac, are the same. Mavs starters: Kyrie Irving, Max Christie, P.J. Washington, Cooper Flagg, Gafford

- Marcus Smart scored 10 off the bench. Bogey (unclear identity) got some minutes, which surprised the host. Ivica Zubac had 16 and 15. Teams not stated in this passage. at 44:35
- Siakam looked amazing. Hosts described a textbook Pacers play: Siakam screened for Halliburton, caught the pass up top after the blitz, and found Ivica Zubac for a dunk. The host had wondered how Zubac would fit, since he differs from Myles Turner. at 47:31

- Podcast Locked On Pacers · 10 points ·
- In the Haliburton-Siakam two-man game, the Pacers often put Ivica Zubac in the dunker spot. The host says this forces the low-man defender to choose between stopping Siakam's drive and leaving Zubac open for a dunk. at 2:36
- The four expected starters who played (Haliburton, Nembhard, Zubac, Siakam) were together for 18 minutes and won those minutes by two. at 3:50
- In those 18 shared minutes, Siakam went 8-for-13 for 16 points and Zubac had 8 points and 8 rebounds. at 3:59
- Host opinion: the most encouraging thing so far, including preseason, is how good the four starters look together despite little time with Zubac and a year off for one of them. He says the starting lineup 'looks like a buzzsaw' and would probably be a net positive even if everything else went wrong. at 5:27
- At halftime Carlisle apparently 'led into' the team. Zubac then came out with fire and grabbed a lot of rebounds to start the second half. name not confirmed at 5:05
- Ivica Zubac was not good in the first half and admitted he lacked the required passion. In the second half he had 12 rebounds in 18 minutes and was +12. at 9:07
- Zubac finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds, including four offensive rebounds; the host calls those offensive boards significant in the possession battle. at 10:14
- Host analysis: when the offense felt clunky it was playing '.7' instead of '.5' basketball, making decisions a beat slow. He was thinking mainly of Zubac swinging the ball side to side, and expects this to improve with time. at 9:44
- Toppin and Zubac shared 12 minutes, about half of Toppin's minutes. Separately, a Toppin-Siakam frontcourt with neither Nance nor Zubac on the floor played nine minutes and was +3. at 16:09
- Host analysis: with Zubac and a team-wide shift toward cutting off the rim more than last year, the Pacers have a long way to go in defensive connection and rotation if they keep defending like this. at 22:47

- The host recalls staggered groups that kept Nembhard, Siakam or Haliburton on the floor with Zubac, plus a big look with Toppin and Zubac. He thinks Haliburton played roughly the 10:00–7:00 stretch of the fourth and then about the last four minutes. at 4:45
- Ivica Zubac (reported): Zubac said it was the first time he had seen Carlisle like that and that it motivated him. at 7:28
- Haliburton had about three turnovers. Two were miscommunications, one with Nance and one with Zubac. The host reads this as rust in the first half and early third quarter that went away in the fourth. at 7:39
- In a self-described overreaction, a host says Toppin will eventually close games, and that the closing question will be whether the team is better with him or Zubac. He adds that Toppin 'kind of ended' this game. at 10:35
- The Pacers trailed 30-15 on the glass in the first half, and the host says Zubac contributed to that. Zubac finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds, 13 of them in the second half, including key offensive rebounds late. at 15:44
- Siakam spent the game battling Zion Williamson. In the second quarter Zubac and Jarace Walker each guarded Zion for a possession, which the host says was to keep Siakam from wearing down. The host also says Siakam struggled at the foul line again. at 24:14
- A host says the newer pieces (Oubre, Nance, and to some extent Zubac) still showed chemistry kinks. In contrast, Siakam, Nembhard, Haliburton and Toppin picked up where they left off. at 35:05

- The Pacers added Ivica Zubac. Andrew called him a drop big and screener of a kind they haven't had to play with Haliburton. at 17:25
- Andrew Schlecht (reported): Andrew thinks Zubac may let Indiana play some zone. He said they couldn't before because they got out-rebounded, and noted that Carlisle's Dallas teams played a lot of zone. at 17:42
- Tyrese Haliburton (quoted): Haliburton, as relayed by the host, on Zubac's screening: he hits people, so Haliburton feels he can slow down even more. at 19:59

- Caitlin says Zubac's screening means Haliburton has less responsibility to create separation himself early on. As a result, Haliburton has been working the mid-range more often. at 9:07
- Zubac is defending pick-and-roll up to touch, not in the drop he played with the Clippers for most of his career. Caitlin calls it a softer up-to-touch with less jabbing, similar to how Tony Bradley was used early last season. at 5:34
- Andrew Nembhard (reported): Tony relays that Andrew Nembhard talked at practice about Zubac being up to touch while the team still defends the rim. Tony is unsure whether that was yesterday or two days ago. at 7:51
- Caitlin argues the Pacers' pace was never set by the center. She says it came from Haliburton's ahead passes, with Miles Turner usually the trailer. So Zubac's rebounding and outlet passes shouldn't slow them down much. at 23:28
