- Personnel analysis: the roster has no clear rim protector. The host says its centers, Day'Ron Sharpe and Moritz Wagner, aren't mobile enough for an at-the-level scheme. Sharpe can do it somewhat; Wagner can't. at 2:29
- The host says four of the players most often on the floor are Julius Randle, Michael Porter Jr., and centers Day'Ron Sharpe and Moritz Wagner. Randle and Porter Jr. are described as the two starting forwards. at 12:09

- Host finds the rotation worrying because neither center, Day'Ron Sharpe nor Moritz Wagner, protects the rim. at 6:50
- Day'Ron Sharpe had 7 points, 8 rebounds and 3 turnovers on 3-of-10 shooting. at 26:18
- Day'Ron Sharpe was called for two reckless-closeout flagrants on James Harden threes. The host says he was ejected, and later says he fouled out with seven or eight minutes left. at 26:38
- The second flagrant came right after the Nets had cut the lead to 11. It gave Cleveland three free throws and the ball, pushing the deficit back to about 15. at 27:01

Brooklyn ran bigger lineups than expected, with Noah Clowney mostly at the three alongside Julius Randle, Mo Wagner, Day'Ron Sharpe and Michael Porter Jr. Both hosts buy the Nets finishing top five in opponent turnover percentage, pointing to coach Jordi Fernandez's track record.

I spoke about this on a recent pod: Chaney Johnson is a tough sell playing alongside Day'Ron Sharpe or Moe Wagner. I like what he offers as a defender and rebounder, but he's very limited in terms of wing skills on offense. It's looked clunky thus far when he's out there.

Egor Dëmin, Keon Ellis, Michael Porter Jr., Julius Randle and Day’Ron Sharpe will start for Nets in season-opener against Hornets
- Podcast Locked On Nets · 6 points ·
- Erik Slater: The host's first long-term worry is the lack of size and explosiveness at center from Day'Ron Sharpe and Moritz Wagner, especially for rebounding and rim protection. at 12:06
- Erik Slater: The host questioned the Moritz Wagner acquisition, calling it an interesting choice to pair Day'Ron Sharpe with another grounded, not overly athletic center. He allowed that the Nets may have had no better options. at 13:06
- Lewis said Wagner is a concern, not on his own but in tandem with Sharpe. He said the pair brings very little shot blocking or rim protection. at 15:03
- Erik Slater: With four or five minutes left, Jordi Fernandez went small, bringing in Noah Clowney for Sharpe. The host's paraphrase of the reason was that they couldn't guard. at 15:47
- Erik Slater: The host said Sharpe's minutes are going up from roughly 15-17 a game to 25-30. The open question is whether he can handle the demands of the aggressive scheme over that bigger load. at 16:07
- Erik Slater: The host said Wagner is even less mobile than Sharpe, and that neither fits drop coverage well either (Sharpe more than Wagner). He is confident Sharpe can handle the scheme; Wagner maybe in smaller minutes. at 16:27

- With the Nets down six, Egor Demin took an outlet after a Sharpe block and was stripped while bringing the ball up the court. at 14:50
- The host said the lack of center depth, size and vertical explosiveness showed in this game: Charlotte's Moussa Diabate and Ryan Kalkbrenner gave the Nets problems. at 6:49
- The host described Fernandez's defensive scheme: bigs play up at the level, with some trapping, which demands a lot of rotation and energy. He said Wagner is less mobile than Sharpe. at 21:46
- Adam said Dennis Schroeder repeatedly drove past Sharpe to the basket with no weak-side help. The host pointed to a bad fourth-quarter stretch in which Schroeder kept getting by defenders to finish with his right hand. at 9:46
- Adam said Sharpe looks more athletic and a little more nimble than before, when he was lead-footed in the paint. at 9:39

- Host expects that this season the Nets will mostly just roll with Day'Ron Sharpe and Moritz Wagner at center. at 6:12
- Host's analysis: drop coverage does not fit Day'Ron Sharpe or Wagner. He says Sharpe gets caught in no man's land on pick-and-rolls and is 6'9" and not very vertically explosive, though the host thinks he has become more mobile. at 7:34
- Host thinks Fernandez should prioritize getting a pick-and-roll lob-threat center for Brown and Demin. He says the Nets have no real lob threat: Sharpe can finish a lob occasionally and Wagner can't really do it. at 13:55
- Host thinks Day'Ron Sharpe looked a lot better finishing around the basket. He also says Wagner has added versatility as a short-roll playmaker and ball handler, besides being a pick-and-pop shooter. at 14:02
- Day'Ron Sharpe shot threes at a higher rate this preseason and looked comfortable doing it. The host says the Nets coaches also looked comfortable with it. at 15:44
- Day'Ron Sharpe (reported): Day'Ron Sharpe told the host at practice (Thursday or Friday; the host doesn't remember which) that he should have shot more threes last season. He said he got in his head about it, is not in his head this season, will let them fly, and has the green light from the coaching staff. at 15:55
- Host predicts Moritz Wagner will play less than Day'Ron Sharpe. His guess for Wagner is about 20-24 minutes per game. at 16:28
- He expects Wagner to have the higher three-point percentage. at 16:44
- Erik Slater: The Nets have Chaney Johnson playing power forward in the second unit alongside traditional centers Sharpe and Wagner. at 22:56

- Brian Lewis: Day'Ron Sharpe got into early foul trouble. The Nets have very little rim protection, and when he sits they have none. Without shot-blocking they have to force turnovers. at 20:22
- Erik Slater: The hosts mention that Nick Claxton has left, leaving Sharpe and Wagner as more grounded centers. at 18:12
- Erik Slater: Wagner and Sharpe combined for 26 points on 11-15 FG, 3-4 from three, with 6 assists and 2 turnovers. at 36:35
- Erik Slater: The host says Wagner and Sharpe allow five-out looks that weren't possible with Nick Claxton, and could serve as hubs in DHO sets. at 36:57

Mikel Brown Jr. will come off the bench during his Nets debut while on a minutes restriction. Jordi Fernandez is rolling with the same starters: Egor Demin Keon Ellis Michael Porter Jr. Julius Randle Day'Ron Sharpe
- Podcast Locked On Nets host · Analysis · name not confirmed
Host's defensive concerns: Randle and Michael Porter Jr are not known for their defense, and Day'Ron Sharpe and Moritz Wagner are both non-rim-protecting centers.

- A more complex set: Ellis entered the ball to Day'Ron Sharpe at the top of the key. Egor Demin bluffed coming off a pin-down, then went to the corner, and it flowed into a zoom action (pin-down into a dribble handoff) that got Porter Jr. a wide-open three. at 4:49
- Host thinks the Nets don't have the personnel for this scheme. Sharpe and Wagner aren't rim protectors, Demin is a work in progress on defense, Porter Jr. and Randle aren't known for defense, and Keon Ellis is the best defender. at 15:58
- Starters were Egor Demin, Keon Ellis, Porter Jr., Julius Randle and Day'Ron Sharpe, the same group as the first game. The host expects this to be the opening-night starting unit. at 23:16
